Life cannot sustain itself without water. We can only survive for a few days without it. Our bodies are composed of about 60% water. We lived in our mother’s womb filled with water! Water is vital to survival and the maintenance of our health.
Did you know that we get three times the amount of oxygen molecules from drinking water than breathing? Here are more reasons to drink more water!
- Helps maintain healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating appetite
- Leads to increased energy level. Mild dehydration can lead to daytime fatigue.
- Flushes out waste/toxins and bacteria that can cause disease
- Can prevent and alleviate headaches which are commonly caused by headaches
- Can reduce joint and muscle pain
- Naturally moisturizes the skin to help give it a healthy glow
- Aids in digestion and prevents constipation
- Aids in circulation
So the question remains…“How much water should I drink?”
It depends.
Certain situations require an increase fluid requirement such as
- Increased physical activity
- Hot and humid weather like Florida
- Dry indoor air
- Illness
But, in general, the average man should consume 13 cups per day and the average woman should drink 9 cups!
Water acts like fuel for our bodies. So why not fill’ er up?
