SUFFERING FROM A FEDERAL WORKPLACE INJURY? WE CAN GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE PROCESS OF WORKERS’ COMPENSATION AND GET YOU THE TREATMENT YOU NEED TO RETURN TO WORK AND REGAIN YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE.
Life after a workplace injury can feel like navigating uncharted waters. The soreness, restlessness, and emotional strain can be overwhelming. More than just your source of income is on pause; it feels like everything is. But the good news is that there are laws in place to protect you if you get injured on the job. This is especially crucial in physically demanding jobs where an injury can prevent you from earning your wages. Workers’ compensation can provide you with the support you need to return to normalcy, and we can help you through the process. At Essential Chirocare and Physical Therapy, our mission is clear – to get you back on your feet, back to work, and moving forward with your life.
Federal Workers’ Compensation is your safety net if you’re a federal worker suffering from injuries or diseases caused by your job or that happen on the job. It’s a helping hand that can cover treatment costs, medications, lost wages, and disability aids, and your settlement won’t affect the quality of care you receive. Whether you’re a mailman, librarian, social worker, correctional officer, or any other federal worker, this compensation provides the support you need to recover fully.
At Essential Chirocare and Physical Therapy, we have years of experience treating workplace injuries as chiropractors and physical therapists. With our knowledge and training, we can help you manage your workers’ compensation. It all starts with paperwork. We guide you through the claim process, answering questions like, “What’s my first step?” “Who pays my bills?” and “Do I qualify for this?” We will help you navigate communication with the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP), report diagnoses and treatments, and update the OWCP about your progress. Together, we’ll help you get the compensation you need and put you on the path to recovery.
Non-life-threatening workplace injuries are, unfortunately, common. They may range from mild to severe, but if it happens at your place of employment, you can be entitled to compensation all the same. Some of the most common workplace injuries we cover are:
SLIP AND FALL
CONCUSSION
WHIPLASH
SCIATICA
MUSCLE TEARS AND SPRAINS
JOINT PAIN
NECK AND BACK PAIN
AUTO ACCIDENT INJURIES
While this list can help you understand what injuries may be covered by workers’ comp, it is by no means exhaustive. Injuries may occur in any number of ways on the job. If you’ve been injured and believe you deserve compensation, we can help you determine if your injury complies with federal workers’ comp guidelines.
The first step to getting workers’ compensation is determining if you are eligible for it. There are a few requirements you have to meet to file a claim, and we can help you determine if that describes your injury. To apply for a workers’ compensation you must prove that:
If these three things apply to you as a government employee, then you can be a viable candidate for federal workers’ compensation. If you’re unsure, then you can schedule a consultation with us. We’ll discuss your injury and help you determine the right course of action.
At Essential Chirocare and Physical Therapy, we offer both physical therapy and chiropractic care as part of your treatment. Your workers’ compensation covers all of our services, allowing you to get the care you need to recover. We treat workplace injuries and, for more severe injuries, can also assist with post-op care. Our goal? To help you recover fully, so you can move forward and regain your quality of life.
Chiropractic care focuses on improving the relationship between your body and the central nervous system. Through a range of therapies and methods, chiropractic care treats damage in bones, nerves, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Our goal is simple: to improve flexibility, increase range of motion, and reduce pain for long-term relief and wellness. Some of the treatments your chiropractor may use to treat your workplace injury include:
Physical therapy helps you regain function after an accident, misuse, disease, or any other event that may affect your movement. This form of treatment helps you to eliminate pain and overcome limitations so you can not only recover but also move better. Your physical therapist may use any of these tried and true physical therapy techniques in your treatment:
Edema Control
Hot and Cold Therapy
Floor Exercises
Gait Training
Manual Therapy
Weight Training
Vestibular Therapy
To be certified to treat workplace injuries and help patients with their federal workers’ compensation claims, a health and wellness practice needs to have credentials from the Department of Labor. We’ve undergone all the necessary training to guide patients through the federal workers’ compensation process and have been certified by the Department of Labor. With our certification, we can provide the care you need, while helping you get the support you deserve.
The process for workers’ compensation isn’t always straightforward, but we’re here to make it as simple as possible. To ease your journey, take a look at some of our answers to common questions about workers’ comp.
The main difference between the two types of compensation is where you get your compensation from. State workers’ compensation is primarily for private businesses. That means if you are injured on the job, your employer will use their business’s insurance to provide your workers’ comp. Federal workers’ compensation only applies to federal workers, so if you have a workplace injury, the government will provide your support. At Essential Chirocare and Physical Therapy, we only help manage federal workers’ compensation cases.
We’re not lawyers, so we can’t provide legal advice or assistance, but we do ensure your paperwork is in proper order to be given to the OWCP for your treatment. Our documentation and information from other medical providers are used to bill the treatment correctly. These documents can be taken care of by yourself and with our help, but if you want to make the process easier, you can hire an attorney. If your claim is denied, then it is out of our jurisdiction. In that case, consulting an attorney is a wise step to get the compensation you need.
The number of sessions you need depends on your treatment. You may only need a few weeks to recover, or it could be a few months to treat your workplace injury. One of our chiropractors or physical therapists will examine you to determine how many sessions you’ll need. We try to make it as few as possible, but as many as you need, so you can return to work and regain your life without pain or risk of further injury.
Your need for additional treatment depends on the extent of your injuries. You may need to see a primary care doctor or surgeon for more severe injuries or to be prescribed medication. Or if you need further chiropractic care or physical therapy, you may need additional sessions. In these cases, you can request an increase in your workers’ compensation if your treatment is medically necessary. Just be sure to inform the OWCP. We can help you fill out any additional paperwork if need be.
